Oasis

12/04/2008 Oracle Arena, Oakland

Hot on the heels of another amazing AC/DC show at the same venue 2 nights previously we could not believe that our seats could’ve been better, but they were. Great show featuring a lot of the hits, but the the highlights for me were the many songs featured from the new album, Dig Out Your Soul. I really like their latest (and last) release, all great, well written, well played rock songs. Liam sounded really good and the band were great, not the usual wall of noise – you could hear actual songs.

Set list:

  • Fuckin’ In The Bushes
  • Rock ‘n’ Roll Star
  • Lyla
  • The Shock Of The Lightning
  • Cigarettes & Alcohol
  • The Meaning Of Soul
  • To Be Where There’s Life
  • Waiting For The Rapture
  • The Masterplan
  • Songbird
  • Slide Away
  • Morning Glory
  • Ain’t Got Nothin’
  • The Importance Of Being Idle
  • I’m Outta Time
  • Wonderwall
  • Supersonic
  • Don’t Look Back In Anger
  • Falling Down
  • Champagne Supernova
  • I Am The Walrus

  2. Sad that this was our last Oasis show for the time being.

  3. I was at Slane 09, which I thought was an ok gig. Not as memorable as our fabled trip to down to Cork, back in 96. A tough journey home, but made somewhat more mellow by the Simon & Garfunkel greatest hits tape that the driver had on repeat.
I was working in Borderline when they first hit the scene and I didnt really ‘get’ why we were selling so many of the early 12″s. I remember they played their first show in the Tivoli and we were offered tickets (myself and Dave Kennedy, now of Road fame) and we thought it would be ‘cooler’ to say we turned down tickets instead of going. Should have gone really. Idiots.
