AC/DC ’08

12/02/2008 – Oracle Arena, Oakland

I was lucky to see AC/DC in London back in 2003 at the relatively small Hammersmith Apollo. My friend Willy won tickets through the NME magazine and took me along. But not even that amazing show could prepare me for the experience at Oakland.

The tickets were all priced at $50, I could not believe my luck when they went on sale and I managed to get 2 for the floor. I didn’t realize how lucky we were until we got to the venue and walked into the arena. Every usher we met kept send us forward toward the stage until we were within spitting distance of the front, although you wouldn’t believe it from the pics – damn iPhone.

Irish band The Answer were the opener though we missed them. Then the hilarious runaway train video clip started (see below) and we were off. Angus was great as usual and Brian sounded really good. Great show.

Set List:

  • Rock ‘N Roll Train
  • Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be
  • Back In Black
  • Big Jack
  • Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
  • Thunderstruck
  • Black Ice
  • The Jack (with strip tease)
  • Hells Bells
  • Shoot To Thrill
  • War Machine
  • Anything Goes
  • You Shook Me All Night Long
  • TNT
  • Whole Lotta Rosie
  • Let There Be Rock
  • Highway To Hell
  • For Those About To Rock

  2. I saw AC/DC in January of 2009 and it was one of the greatest shows of my life. I think AC/DC always puts on a wonderful show!
